To see a file in its folder:
Mark the file (hover with the mouse or select it with the arrow keys)
Open the context menu with right-click or by pressing TAB
Select "Reveal in Finder" (Windows: "Reveal in Explorer")

This will open Finder (Mac) or Explorer (Windows) to show the folder.
