How to change which file types are indexed for search

To change which file types you want indexed for search:
In the left bar, click the cog (⚙️) icon to open Preferences
Go to the section File Search in the left bar
Under Searchable Types, click the file type you want to activate/deactivate
You can add more extensions separated by a comma under Other file extensions (for example: .docx, .xlsx, *.pdf)

Notes

If you hover your mouse over the file types (e.g. Slides, Documents, Sheets, Books etc.), you can see which extensions are included in each category.
You can choose to index certain file types for Content Search only on your computer, or only on your apps - just activate/deactivate the corresponding checkbox.
You can determine a date range for files to be indexed under File content search period (for example: files updated in the last month, files updated in the last year).
The app can index files up to 250 MB in size, with a few exceptions. For locally stored videos, audio, and zip files, the limit is 25 GB. For apps, the limit is 5 GB.
