Getting started
Welcome to Curiosity - Your Personal Desktop Search Assistant!
Curiosity is a powerful desktop search app that helps you quickly find files, emails, and other important information on your computer. We're excited to have you on board and can't wait to help you get started. 😊
Getting Started
To start using Curiosity, simply download the app from our website and install it on your computer. Once you've installed the app, you can launch it, connect your apps, and begin searching for your files, folders and emails.
Connecting Your Apps
To connect your folders and apps to Curiosity, open the app and click on the + sign next to Apps in the left sidebar. That will take you to a page showing all the apps you can connect. From there, you can select the apps that you want to connect to Curiosity, like you email accounts, cloud drives, and more.
You can learn more about connecting apps in the Connect Apps section of the user guide.
Once you've connected your apps to Curiosity, the app will begin indexing your files and emails. This process may take some time depending on the size of your data, but once it's done, you'll be able to search for your files and emails with ease.
When you first connect your apps to Curiosity, you may notice it using your computer's RAM while it downloads and indexes your data. This is normal and will drop to zero after indexing. To avoid any slowdowns during your working hours, you can schedule indexing times. Contact us if you need further assistance.
Searching for Files and Emails
To search for files, simply enter a keyword or phrase into the search bar at the top of the app. Curiosity will then search your entire computer and any apps you connected for files that match your search query. You can also filter your search results by file type, date modified, and more.
The same way to search also works for emails, messages, contacts, and your clipboard history.
Check these articles to learn how to filter your results and to learn how to combine search keywords.
Using the Command Bar
To search quickly from anywhere, you can use Curiosity's command bar.
To use the command bar, simply press the Alt+Space (⌥+Space on Mac) keyboard shortcut. That will open the command bar, allowing you to search for files and emails without having to open the Curiosity app.
Once the command bar is open, simply type in your search query and hit Enter. Curiosity will then search your computer and cloud apps and display the results in a pop-up window.
