What is indexing?

When you first install Curiosity, it will index your data to make it searchable. Indexing needs to use CPU resources.

The free version of the app indexes fast.

Paid versions (including Trials) can take longer because they also index file contents. It can take between a few minutes and a few hours: It depends how much data you have and how powerful your computer is.

How can I control indexing?

If indexing is disturbing your work by taking too much CPU, you have two ways of managing it:
Pause indexing
Schedule indexing

How to pause indexing

To pause indexing, click on the ⏸ (Pause) button in the left menu:
The first click will pause for 5minutes
Then you can choose to pause for 2 hours, a day, or a week

To resume indexing, click the ▶️ (Resume content indexing) button in the left menu.

How to schedule indexing

To schedule indexing for a time when it won't disturb you:
In the left bar, click on the cog (⚙️) icon for Preferences
Scroll down to the section on File indexing
Click and drag on the 🟩 tiles to turn off indexing for times/days

⬜️ The app won't index during these times
🟩 The app will index during these times
